Winter in Holland definately started. Lots of snow is falling which makes Amsterdam look like a fairytale, with white bridges and bikes. Another good thing is that it also makes the city more silent. But be aware, those ‘pito’ bridges are nasty slippery so please bring proper boots! We apologize for any inconvenience while travelling, a few drops of snow can cause huge traffic jams and the trains do not always run. Take your time and enjoy the scenery!

When the temperature drops below zero ice fever starts immediately in Holland. Ice skating is what we like best and maybe, who knows, this winter will bring another, long wanted 11-stedentocht (eleven city tour). This tour is in Friesland - in the north of Holland – and iceskaters will have to skate 200 km between 11 cities.

Since August 1st 2010 the Amsterdam’s canal ring is placed on Unesco’s World Heritage List.

For centuries the fame of these 17th century canals has extended far beyond the Dutch frontiers. The technical innovation with the semi-circular design, the water management system and the sheer size of the area, make the canal ring an urban phenomenon that is without equal in the rest of the world. The ring of canals is an architectural complex of world significance. The entire area is about 160 hectares in surface area, the total length of the canals is some 14 kilometres, with an astonishing 80 bridges.
